The list placed him as Nomber One in Language and Linguistics based on 6 Scopus indicators: citations, H-index, HM factor, career inluence and annual influence. Research.com ranks Ken as the 116th most influential scholar in Humanities and social sciences globally.
He has presented papers at over 290 international conferences, over 170 as a plenary or keynote speaker, and obtained research funding of £220, 000 including Hong Kong CERG and GRF awards. A collection of his work was published as The Essential Hyland in 2018 by Bloomsbury.
